Switzerland is my favorite country in the world. The epic views, serene atmosphere, and endless adventures have captured me, heart and soul. After a recent trip (or two) to my favorite valley, a gorgeous place called Lauterbrunnen, I was inspired to create a knitting pattern that embodied the same snow covered peaks and valleys that I saw there.
We were fortunate to be able to rent a room from a local alpaca farmer, which by far was one of the coolest places I have ever lived temporarily, and I sat on the back porch, took in the view, and let my knitting needles fly. Never have I ever knitted in a more beautiful and picturesque place. It didn’t feel real!
I chose this gorgeous deep blue yarn by Madelinetosh called Spectrum for my project. It is such a beautiful colorway, and the fiber is so soft!
The pattern I have created is a knitted beanie style hat, perfect to keep fashionably warm in the cooler weather, and the lace detailing gives just enough airflow through the textile to be worn while hiking through the alps. Not too hot, not too cold! Just right.
I plan to also make this hat using a lighter cotton or rayon yarn for spring/summer nights. The lace styling keeps the hat from looking too heavy, and possibly suitable for multiple seasons. I will be sure to post about this once this is completed for you all to see!
Please share your photos and comments about this pattern! I would love to see what you create!
